Mongolia Family Holidays

Calling all young explorers!

Discover Our Family Holidays & Trips

Our Mongolia family holidays offer something truly special: Mongolia itself. With its wide-open horizons and boundless landscapes, it’s the perfect setting for a family adventure.

Every journey is designed around you  including your travel dates and your family’s interests. What excites you most? Adventure, discovery, or simply slowing down together in nature? Whether your family dreams of hiking, camping, staying in a traditional ger, trekking by camel, riding horses, or enjoying peaceful moments in Mongolia’s wilderness, you’ll travel with your own private vehicle and the support of one of our all-female trip assistants.

Travel in Mongolia naturally comes with its share of bumps in the road—occasional delays, surprises, and unexpected challenges that are simply part of life here. While we can’t smooth away every inconvenience (nor would we want to, as they reflect Mongolia’s reality), we’ll be there with guidance and support to help you navigate these moments and keep your adventure flowing.

For inspiration, explore our blog posts and itineraries, or take a look at reviews from other families who have shared their journeys with us. And when you’re ready, Jess would love to hear your ideas and help craft your own Mongolia family adventure.

Our Mongolia family holidays are perfect for those ready to embrace both the adventure and the bumps along the way.

While we can tailor your trip to include more comfortable accommodation if you wish, Mongolia isn’t a country that smooths every edge—and nor do we. We don’t offer child-minding services, but we do offer something far richer: the chance for your children to experience a real adventure.

If you’d like your family to enjoy the freedom of the outdoors, the fun of a road trip, a taste of Mongolian culture, and time immersed in nature, then we’d love to welcome you on one of our journeys.

Our Mongolia family holidays are designed to accommodate families of any size and configuration. This flexibility means your travel group can include beloved grandparents, a favourite aunt, a couple of uncles, or even a group of cousins.

Reviews Of Our Mongolia Family Holidays

It remains a stand out adventure. And it was possible thanks to the special way you built EL and tailored our trip. It could easily be much less interesting and involving without your deep relations with the herders and families. So thank you for making it a real Mongolian exploration and not just a hover above the surface.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the most amazing trip you organised for us. We couldn’t have asked for more to stay with such wonderful people and experience the life of a herder. I fell in love with Mongolia, as did Flo and I will not be able to stay away for long. The beauty of the landscape and the warmth of the people were incredible.

No need for a five star hotel, when you can be surrounded by so pleasant people and their great hospitality. The program you have put together for us was spot on and with new experiences and explorations to indulge in everyday. We have gotten much closer to people and their animals, than we had dreamed possible.

My kids’ new standard for a perfect holiday. This holiday was truly an exceptional experience and we are so very grateful for everything Eternal Landscapes did to make it happen. Returning to Mongolia is on the top of my kids’ wish list; plenty of exploring left to do, so we’ll be back!
Exploring by bike - Sukhbaatar Square in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
The Chai Family
The landscapes we camped in, the culture we were able to experience, the food we tasted, the people we met was just beyond our expectations. Our children will have an imprint of Mongolia in their minds for a lifetime. It opened up their minds and eyes, so much so that they were really sad to leave.

We truly did experience the real Mongolia living with families for the two weeks. They opened their homes to us. Dog sledding, staying in a ger, eagle hunting, playing UNO. The stillness of the landscapes. It was a unique package – not mainstream – and a true taste of the heart of Mongolia.

Leaving Small Footprints In A Big Country

If your child is passionate about the environment, concerned about the climate crisis, or curious about the impact of tourism on nature, our responsible travel page  or  Climate Action Plan might be of interest. Here, your kids can learn about the efforts we are making to mitigate our environmental impact.

We wholeheartedly support involving children in the planning process of your family tour in Mongolia, especially if they are interested in environmental conservation. For example, they can learn about the effects of climate change on Mongolia and express interest in participating in activities like a tree-planting project. We are more than happy to integrate these educational and proactive experiences into your travel itinerary.

Well organized, great staff and fantastic experiences We travelled for almost three weeks in June 2017 with 2 adults and 4 kids aged 7 to 11. We had a fantastic experience with eternal landscapes. Jess was extremely helpfull helping us planning the trip. The trip itself was amazing. The places we stayed, the families we met, our tourguide, and our drivers were all memorable. The value for money was great. I highly recommend them.

A Family Trip to Remember! We contacted Eternal Landscapes because it was the only tour coordinator in Mongolia that warmly welcomed and actively encouraged us to bring our kids, age 9 and 12. Jess organized a two week tour through the Gobi and Orkhon River Valley that was a good mix of tourist sites, natural landscapes, and family stays. Jess's pre-departure guidelines were well written and she answered all our questions promptly. Dagwa, our tour coordinator, cook, and all around fixer was warm and welcomed all questions big and small. Hasaa, our driver, can fix anything! During the trip, he was able to deal with all various vehicle problems that the desert gave us - flat tires, leaking break fluid, and I think he rebuilt something while we were having lunch. The highlight, of course, were the family stays. The hosts let us try our hand at milking goats and yaks. In the morning there was yogurt and fresh butter. And the kids all played together, no translation required. Overall, it was a trip to remember for a lifetime and we can't wait to go back.

The Eternal Landscapes team provided a completely tailored tour that met the needs of our family. Everything was well organized, and our guide, Zumbee, and our driver, Nyamaa, were wonderful with our children. It was a completely stress free tour through an amazing country. We can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic family trip We just completed our best family holiday. Eternal landscape gave us a tailored trip with 5 days horse-riding and 8 days traveling around various parts of Mongolia, and then 3 days in ulanbattar for naadam. Nothing was ever a hassle. They were flexible and changed the tour as needed. Ie we were to go horse riding with pack horses, however I was not up to 5 full days of riding having only ridden 2 times before. They instead had our van follow and I could stop and start when needed, whilst the rest of the family rode. Our guide cooked the best food, coping with our keto diet. Loved the country side, the piece and quiet. No technology. The van was very comfortable. One row sat all 4 of us. Can highly recommend.

A family adventure in Mongolia We have just returned from a 70th birthday family trip to Mongolia with son and daughter and 4 and 7 year old grandsons. The adventure was very well organized and truly a memorable event for everyone. Deegi and Zaya were excellent guides and extra pairs of hands in helping entertain the kids. Dune surfing , camel riding, horse riding, were all highlights for the kids and the games and history and culture did it for the adults. I would say expectations were very well communicated and very well met. It was not as imagined (much different in a good way) but it was as expected! Flexibility and an open mind set are key to enjoyment!

My kids' new standard for a perfect holiday When I was planning our trip to Mongolia, I was looking for a small organization with a focus on sustainable tourism. I also wanted an organization flexible enough to put together an itinerary and activities that are interesting and fun for both adults and my two kids (5 and 7). I was hoping to learn about Mongolian culture and way of life while exploring the varied landscape. My kids had plenty of travel experience but none involving sleeping in gers and tents and going without bath for some days, so I was hoping the trip would go over well but didn't dare to be sure. Thanks to Jess, Tuya (our guide), and Nyma (our driver) from Eternal Landscapes we ended up with an amazing experience. We travelled around the country in our "living room on wheels" (an adapted Russian van; very comfortable!) for 2.5 weeks, stayed with families in gers, slept in tents amid amazing landscapes, went hiking, climbed rocks, rode horses and camels, played with frogs in little creeks and caught squirrels with hordes of excited kids, made cheese, tried wodka from mare's milk, ate Mongolian dumplings and pancakes (yum!), planted trees against desertification, watched herders catch colts for the first time, had Mongolian barbecue (the real deal!), and at all times enjoyed the beauty of the country - from green hills to the sands of the Gobi - and the hospitality of the wonderful people of Mongolia. This holiday was truly an exceptional experience and we are so very grateful for everything Eternal Landscapes did to make it happen. Returning to Mongolia is on the top of my kids' wish list; plenty of exploring left to do, so we'll be back! :)

Best trip with little kids I’m behind in writing this but need to share what a wonderful travel experience we had with Jess and crew at Eternal Landscapes. My husband and I took our 6 and 10 year old on a 3 week tour of mid Mongolia in June and July. There were so many experiences that were highlights that I couldn’t fit it all in this review. The Mongolian people were so happy and kind. We loved riding the camels and horses, milking the animals and staying with herding families. Riding in the indestructible old and well maintained Russian Furgo van with Gamba at the helm and Odna our wonderful translator, guide and cook. Every day was a new experience, I even got to find geocaches in out of the way places. Hearing and watching the musicians play and throat sing in our ger was another memorable moment. Hiking the tall sand dunes in the Gobi, shooting Mongolian arrows on handmade bows and meeting the craftman that makes them. Having random picnics under the blue sky was wonderful. The kids had so much freedom and there was no need for electronics or toys. Even long days driving in the van were fine, they drew pictures or slept or played cards. They would play with local kids or find bones and things to keep them busy. We were glad we brought small school supplies to give to appreciative families. We bought more there. We got to help stock a library for children in a slum in UB and plant trees in the Gobi. The end of our trip included a local Nadaam festival we had only read about in books. Along the way we would occasionally see another tour group and the contrasts made us very thankful for choosing Eternal Landscapes because Jess and her crew of local professionals made sure every need was met. She also made sure our meals were healthy, staff alert and of sound judgement, and every rendezvous timely. We feel like we got A LOT for our money and a very authentic positive experience. Definitely a trip our children still talk about.

Incredible trip to Mongolia with EL We had an absolutely incredible trip with Eternal Landscapes. We were two families traveling together - with five kids from age 9 to 14. Jess and her team worked with us to create an amazing itinerary. What we appreciated most was the fact that Eternal Landscapes is not luxury travel. We were able to connect with our host families and get off the beaten path. Our guides and drivers were so caring and went above and beyond. Really can't recommend them highly enough!
