Eternal Landscapes is a small Mongolia-based travel company designing thoughtful, small-scale journeys across Mongolia.
Our work is rooted in long-term local partnerships, responsible tourism, and a belief that travel should reflect Mongolia as it is lived — with its people, landscapes, everyday realities, and the practical details that shape each journey.
We are a Mongolian-registered tourism business and a member of the Mongolian Tourism Association. Mongolia is not simply the destination we work in. Mongolia is not simply the destination we work in. Most of our work is directly with our own guests, but we also welcome a small number of carefully chosen partnerships with companies and individuals whose values sit comfortably alongside ours.

We do not publicly list our international partners, as we respect brand positioning and confidentiality. However, we are happy to share references and talk through our experience directly.

Eternal Landscapes was founded by Jess, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society recognised for her work in Mongolia, and her Mongolian business partner Turuu in 2010.
Together, they have built a small, Mongolia-based travel company shaped by long-term relationships, local knowledge, and a commitment to working in a way that benefits the people and communities involved in each journey.
We remain deliberately small. This allows us to offer a more personal, flexible way of working, while being open and honest about what is possible, what may be challenging, and whether we are the right fit for your programme.

Amazing once in a lifetime trip through the wilds of Mongolia! Firstly if you are going to Mongolia get in touch with Jess and book with Eternal Landscapes! From the get go Jess is very helpful and informative and her communication is spot on! This is a small enterprise which means that the attention to detail and passion is 100%. We went back and forth for a while building the perfect trip within our budget and we knew from the beginning that Eternal Landscapes would provide us with the perfect trip... We were not disappointed! The drivers and guides are knowledgeable, safe, fun and kind and are really passionate about their country.We stayed with locals and in a variety of accomodation, which we loved. Cherilyn MAmazing window onto life in Mongolia. This is a review of my two trips with EL, in June 2015 and March 2017.Our first trip with Eternal Landscapes was the first time I had ever travelled outside North America or Europe. I considered a number of travel companies, but Jess’s promptness of response and warmth at the outset, answering all my questions and putting together a plan that made sense for our family (parents and two teenagers) was quickly the deciding factor in favor of going with Eternal Landscapes. Our actual trip was about two weeks long, featuring lots of walking, driving, camping, and a bit of horseback riding. We had a guide and driver, and our family travelled in a Russian furgon, which is kind of like a 4WD VW bus on steroids. Highlights included visiting with a local family in the Orkhon river valley, finding wild peonies, riding camels in the Gobi desert, and the amazing feeling of being able to walk cross country without a path and camping in beautiful spots. Jess even set up a private concert for us featuring local folk musicians. I was so overwhelmed by the whole experience that even now I have a hard time putting it into words. At the same time, the price tag was moderate compared to other choices. The style of travel was very basic, but this certainly wasn’t an issue, and allowed us to get a taste of life more similar to what people who live there experience.Two years later, I went back alone, and joined a small group travelling to Western Mongolia. This trip was led by Jess directly, and was truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. For one thing it was in the winter (spring really, encompassing the Nauryz festival in Ulgii), and we stayed almost exclusively in people’s homes. We stayed in the homes of several eagle hunters, met their families, shared meals, played games. This involved lots of sleeping on the floor, sometimes in a room containing all of us plus the entire family, but the privilege of having this kind of a window onto people’s daily lives is still astonishing to me. Also on this trip, I was able to spend a bit more time in Ulaan Baatar, visiting a family in a ger district and a felt-making workshop, and these were also highlights of the trip. Both trips were well organized and we were comfortable and well fed. The activities tended to be low key and unscheduled -- walking, driving, visiting, having tea, waiting around for a parade to start, but this felt natural, and by the same token it was easy to find time to explore on our own a little, which generally took the form of walking up the nearest hillside. The guides, aka “trip advisors” were kind, helpful, and responsible, and although occasionally language issues emerged, they would be on the phone to Jess sorting things out satisfactorily. There is very little good that can be said about driving in Mongolia, but the drivers were experienced and responsible and we felt safe. They were also excellent ad hoc mechanics, constantly taking care of the beast (and fixing a flat on the way to the Gobi, where not a single car came by during the two hours we were stopped on the road).Anyway I can’t say enough good things about Jess and Eternal Landscapes, if you are looking for a window onto real life in Mongolia. This is not a luxury outfit, and you’ll go longer than you ever thought possible without indoor plumbing, but you gain far more than you give up travelling with EL.Posted on Tripadvisor
richard hA family adventure in Mongolia We have just returned from a 70th birthday family trip to Mongolia with son and daughter and 4 and 7 year old grandsons. The adventure was very well organized and truly a memorable event for everyone. Deegi and Zaya were excellent guides and extra pairs of hands in helping entertain the kids. Dune surfing , camel riding, horse riding, were all highlights for the kids and the games and history and culture did it for the adults. I would say expectations were very well communicated and very well met. It was not as imagined (much different in a good way) but it was as expected! RoastedsquidA Family Trip to Remember! We contacted Eternal Landscapes because it was the only tour coordinator in Mongolia that warmly welcomed and actively encouraged us to bring our kids, age 9 and 12. Jess organized a two week tour through the Gobi and Orkhon River Valley that was a good mix of tourist sites, natural landscapes, and family stays. Jess's pre-departure guidelines were well written and she answered all our questions promptly. Dagwa, our tour coordinator, cook, and all around fixer was warm and welcomed all questions big and small. Hasaa, our driver, can fix anything! During the trip, he was able to deal with all various vehicle problems that the desert gave us - flat tires, leaking break fluid, and I think he rebuilt something while we were having lunch. The highlight, of course, were the family stays. The hosts let us try our hand at milking goats and yaks. In the morning there was yogurt and fresh butter. And the kids all played together, no translation required. Overall, it was a trip to remember for a lifetime and we can't wait to go back.Posted on Tripadvisor
emmaelambertonPersonalized experience We were so happy with the trip arranged through EL. We hired only a driver and had a custom travel itinerary. Jess was extremely helpful. On our trip, someone from her company called three times, just to make sure everything was ok! (Our driver spoke only broken English). We went to the eagle festival in western Mongolia. There we met up with a larger tour from EL and were able to join them (for no additional cost!!) for a lunch with the Eagle Huntress herself! It was an amazing surprise. Her local translators and guides and drivers were genuinely nice people, and we enjoyed staying up late for Mongolian card games with them. If you are trying to decide what tour company to go with, I would choose EL. I live in Ulaanbaatar and work as an English teacher. I see other tours that just process tourists through without actually trying to meet their individual needs. Jenny OAwesome "Essence of Mongolia Tour" with Eternal Landscapes After trekking on the Gobi desert I wanted to complete a short tour to see a different side of the country and take in some of the culture. Of all the tour companies I contacted Jess for Eternal Landscapes was by far the friendliest and the most helpful! Jess was in constant communication from the start ensuring that my tour met my budget, timescale and what I wanted to achieve.My driver Turuu and guide Enkhee were really welcoming, informative and cooked amazing food - especially the Mongolian BBQ which was both tasty and entertaining! The families I stayed with were also very hospitable and gave a great insight into Mongolian life.My tour was 3 days and took me to the temples of Erdene Khamii Khiid in the beautiful Khogno Khan nature reserve, a visit to the Erdene Zuu Monastary and the old capital Kharkhorin and ended with my highlight - a homestay at the Orkhon river valley. Here I stayed with a herdsman family in an absolutely stunning area of natural beauty and saw the day to day life of a Mongolian herdsman family. I also got to try fermented mare's milk which was a tick off my Mongolia list!!Even after the tour has finished EL provide you with a brochure of Mongolian history and an informative guide to Ulaanbatar as well as a transfer to the airport on your departure.I cannot recommend EL as a tour company enough. I came back a changed person! Jess takes care of all details and even makes sure that those of us traveling alone had a good combination of personalities (A must, when living in close quarters for 2 weeks!) Christine BJourney among modern Nomads-Eternal Landscapes Mongolia. Why would you want to do that I was asked. I took a 15 day "journey among modern nomads" though Eternal Landscapes.There was 4 travellers, a couple and 2 solo females we met on the Friday and left on Saturday morning we all got on very well. That I think was down to Jess Brooks the co-owner who puts the time in. There is a personal touch to match people and understanding needs, requirements of the travellers. Mongolian families who you stay with, it's not a show they are putting on this is their day to day life. If you want indoor toilet, shower at the end of each day then this is not for you. We used town showers 4 times, the toilet at the camps some times had a door.! We went to 11 places and the Naadam at Kharkhorin. It was a small but fantastic view in to Mongolia and the peoples life. The trip assistants are the link to understanding the life style, the drivers just seem to know were they are going when there is no real road just a dirt track. The food and drink I just tried what they gave me I never went hungry, they are very good cooks. I didn't like the cheese. We did some what you'd call tourists places because these place are apart of the history of the country and you do need to understand what happened. My friends still don't get why I wanted to go. I wish to repeat it all again it is so vast, beautiful, changeable and friendly. Take a good water filter bottle don't add to the rubbish by buying water the town and well water is ok. qld2An amazing insight into 21st century Mongolia We two friends have just completed an 18 day tour in Mongolia. We discovered Jess and Eternal Landscapes on the internet and through sharing of information organised a tour taking in 3 very different areas of this beautiful and interesting country. From the moment we arrived and throughout the entire trip, we were delighted to share our travel with 3 excellent trip assistants and 3 very competent and friendly drivers. We opted to fly from UB to our 3 areas thereby saving many hours of travel. 5 days in the Gobi [south] were followed by another 5 days out of Murun in the north. We were thrilled to attend 2 days of the Nadaam Festival in the small town of Khatgal. In the west we were based in Ulgii and experienced the hospitality and culture of the Kazakhs.Everywhere in Mongolia, we ventured into the middle of solitude and endless vistas. In the west our day spent with Bashakhan, the eagle hunter and his family, was a special highlight. Eternal Landscapes may be a small company but it is mighty in its planning and care of its clients. Mongolia is a vast country with stunning landscapes and unique culture and we had wonderful experiences throughout. Sylvie DestoquayIncredible ! Wonderful! I have no words to express how my experience was ! I booked a trip in Mongolie with another agency having very known website. But two days before my trip in Mongolia, my contact informed me that he was unable to book domestic flight and that the journey had to be changed. I checked and contacted the domestic airlines companies, there were flights but my travel agent did not book on time. Flights were fully booked. I did not want to travel 3 days and be more than 1000 km in a Toyota Prius with all my luggages, bmmy husband (191cm tall) and my daughter (4y). So I contacted Eternal Landscape, I was desesparated. I just asked some questions and did not ask anything as organizing a trip 48h in advance is impossible. But impossible is not Eternal Landscape! They did not promesse me anything but the day after Jessica contacted me with a program. She took the time to contact her team and organize something for me, without putting pressure on me. Just in case, to help me. I was solo happy ! I lost some money but preferred not to go with the initial travel agent but to go with Eternal Landscape. And this was one of the best choice I did. In my life. The team was great, available, nice, smiling, and took care of us and my little one. The trip was AMAZING ! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. I RECOMMEND!!!!! One of the best trip we did. David ThomasWe had a fantastic 3-week private tour of Mongolia with Eternal Landscapes. Jess from Eternal Landscapes was very helpful and knowledgeable in providing an itinerary that was a great introduction to the country. The partnerships Eternal Landscapes has with the hosts of the stay meant that a) we were able to stay in beautiful locations and b) we were able to experience the warmth of the local families and get an insight into the way of life. In particular the location at Khogno Khan within walking distance of the sand dunes was one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The vehicle used for the tour was a very comfortable four by four; before we went this was a worry about how bad the roads would be – this turned out not to be an issue at all. We never felt under time pressure at any of the locations and Turuu (our driver) and Ula (our guide) clearly wanted to make sure we got the best out of every experience. The food was excellent and Ula did a great job providing a range of delicious meals. Finally, I thought the price was very reasonable compared to the major tour companies and the added value of a private tour combined with the local knowledge and connections. alex dPhenomenal Trip of a Lifetime I was lucky enough to spend a week with the Eternal landscapes team, more specifically with Khisgee my trip assistant and Sandag our driver as I cycled through parts of the Gobi desert and Western Mongolia. I can honestly say, I've never met a team who are so passionate and caring about what they do, but also who believe so strongly in the principles of real authentic tourism. Both Sandag and Khisgee were great entertainment as I worked on my Mongolian throughout the trip, but also chuckled at me several times hurtling on my bicycle through the desert. The eternal landscapes team have a great reputation amongst the Mongolian countryside and the people here, which is such an important aspect of choosing a tour group, as they'll drive you deep into remote areas of Mongolia and you'll be welcome with open arms to catch and sheer sheep, ride camels and horses and use slingshots with the kids. mamafozBest trip with little kids I’m behind in writing this but need to share what a wonderful travel experience we had with Jess and crew at Eternal Landscapes. My husband and I took our 6 and 10 year old on a 3 week tour of mid Mongolia in June and July. There were so many experiences that were highlights that I couldn’t fit it all in this review.The Mongolian people were so happy and kind. We loved riding the camels and horses, milking the animals and staying with herding families. Riding in the indestructible old and well maintained Russian Furgo van with Gamba at the helm and Odna our wonderful translator, guide and cook. Every day was a new experience, I even got to find geocaches in out of the way places. Hearing and watching the musicians play and throat sing in our ger was another memorable moment. Hiking the tall sand dunes in the Gobi, shooting Mongolian arrows on handmade bows and meeting the craftman that makes them. Having random picnics under the blue sky was wonderful. The kids had so much freedom and there was no need for electronics or toys. Even long days driving in the van were fine, they drew pictures or slept or played cards. They would play with local kids or find bones and things to keep them busy. We were glad we brought small school supplies to give to appreciative families. We bought more there. We got to help stock a library for children in a slum in UB and plant trees in the Gobi. The end of our trip included a local Nadaam festival we had only read about in books. Along the way we would occasionally see another tour group and the contrasts made us very thankful for choosing Eternal Landscapes because Jess and her crew of local professionals made sure every need was met. She also made sure our meals were healthy, staff alert and of sound judgement, and every rendezvous timely. We feel like we got A LOT for our money and a very authentic positive experience. rohizaniLand of the sheep and goats We traveled from Ulaanbatar to Orkhon, and proceeded to Bagunnur. All we could see was the endless mountains and plains - so beautiful. Weather turned bad on the way to the Gobi and one of the vans got stuck in the snow. This was no problem for the drivers and the the Russian vans. Maiju VExperiencing the authentic Mongolia I joined the amazing Khovsgol trails tour by Eternal Landscapes, and it was definitely worth it. The trip was well organized, and the trip assistants, guides and drivers were professional, warm and knowledgeable. It was clear that they love their country and culture, and always walk the extra mile to ensure that the guests are happy. Their impressive cooking, driving and organizational skills as well as brilliant sense of humour elevate the whole experience to a new level. Many thanks! 😊 The trip itself was nicely paced – it was not too rushed, but during these two weeks we got to experience a lot. In some occasions, the original plans had to be changed, but the team always managed to rearrange the schedules and make everything work. Mongolia might not be an easy destination, but it is a fascinating country to visit. There will be long drives, changes in plans and waiting around, but that’s how the country works – in return, we got to see the authentic herder lifestyle, untouched nature and amazing landscapes and experience the friendly and welcoming Mongolian culture. It was magical to stand on top of a hill in the morning sun, observe the serene view to a valley and hear a shaman drum from the distance. In the bigger picture, getting to know the Mongolian way of life gave me new perspectives to our western society and values. I warmly recommend to experience this unique country with a reliable, professional company with strong ethical principles. Peggy SchaefferI had so many wonderful experiences while traveling in Mongolia with Eternal Landscapes, I don't know where to begin. I loved all the time I had to visit and observe people living their traditional ways, making cheeses, herding livestock, or drinking airag. I loved sleeping in yurts, which are gers in Mongolian, playing with children, eating with families, and listening to people visit. And I learned so much from spending time there in a leisurely way -- the landscapes are huge and more varied than I imagined. And yak yogurt and cream are delicious! TFHBA Genuine Connection to the Real Mongolia A genuinely authentic Mongolia experience We had an outstanding experience with Eternal Landscapes and would recommend them without hesitation. What sets them apart is the genuine connection they create with local people. Our time with Odnoo in Ulaanbaatar felt personal rather than simply guided, and Khishgee was fantastic throughout our journey outside the city. She always explained what to expect each day and made sure we were comfortable. The family stays were a real highlight. Spending time with local families, their children and simply sharing in everyday life made the trip feel incredibly authentic. The food and accommodation were also better than we expected, including access to showers at each stop. Our most memorable experience was a private traditional concert inside our ger, performed just for the two of us. It was an extraordinary moment and something we will never forget. Travelling in rural Mongolia inevitably requires some flexibility, and Eternal Landscapes embraces that rather than trying to force a rigid itinerary. We were initially slightly unsure about that approach, but once travelling we completely understood it and appreciated how well everything was handled. gillian mMongolia, so special I spent 5 weeks travelling round Mongolia with Eternal Landscapes. Jess listened to what I wanted and put together the perfect itinerary. I hoped to experience how Mongolians live and most of my accommodation was in family Gers. Eating and chatting to real people, experiencing their way of life, which is tough especially in the freezing winter months. This was not a luxury trip. The Gers are heated with stoves and there is no running water or toilets. You use what is affectionately called a "long drop" toilet. Basically a deep hole in a small shed. Some are pretty reasonable, some not. But if you want to envelope yourself in their way of life, it's what you do. Wet wipes are king. My first 10 days were spent in the North. I had an amazing 3 day horse drawn sled trip on the frozen Khovsgol Lake. Stunning. Flying along the ice was such an experience. Then there was the Khovsgol Ice Festival. So many local people made me feel like a star as they wanted their photo taken with a westerner! The most fun part was watching tug-o-war on the ice. Hilarious! I've wanted to visit the Gobi desert since school days. Since the infrastructure in Mongolia isn't great, it meant a lot of long driving on rough tracks. EL use these great Russian 4x4 trucks which can handle the roughest terrain. Hundreds of miles of desert which was in its own way, beautiful.I then flew to Khovd in Western Mongolia, otherwise it would have been days of driving, to experience the Kazakh Eagle Hunters. I participated in an amazing Eagle festival. The Kazakh Mongolias are mostly Eagle hunters, hunting in the winter only but I had demonstrations of the hunting techniques. Watching these men in their hunting outfits, we could have been back in Ghengis Khan's time. EL's ethos is what drew me to this company. They employ mostly older men as drivers who are very experienced and female trip assistants. Giving employment and training to local people. They are involved in several projects throughout Mongolia, helping to make a difference to the locals. Nothing was too much trouble for my trip assistant and driver. They looked after me so well and made my trip incredibly special. And as for the Mongolian people! Their warmth and generosity will stay in my heart for ever.Posted on Tripadvisor
Jennifer JJune 2019 Eternal Landscapes Wild Mongolia I can't sing the praises loud enough for the operator and their true welcoming, accommodating and approachable. From the time I landed and was met by a driver at the airport to take me to my hotel, to the included UB city tour to fabulous guide, Baaska and driver Neema and their willingness to engage and make the trip everything I dreamed of can't be underestimated. They went above and beyond to help seek out a small town Naadam Festival (the trip was in June), to diligently driving and seeking Takhi wild horses, reindeer herdsman while in Lake Kovsgol area, to horseback riding and camel rides. You name it, they found a way to make it happen. It was truly amazing. Of course, there is no way to guarantee any trip will have some of the luck we had in finding all this variety but again, both Baaska and Neema worked overtime to make sure if they could make it happen, it would.Posted on Tripadvisor
Viv MWinter in Mongolia - what an amazing experience This was our second trip to Mongolia, and our second with Eternal Landscapes. Our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed. We had never travelled in such extreme winter conditions and was unsure what to expect. Jess provided heaps of useful information and tips, and would answer any question, however trivial. Our trip was really 5 different experiences over five weeks: dog sledding on frozen rivers, Mongolian New Year, the Thousand Camel Festival in the Gobi, a road trip to far western Mongolia, and the Spring Festival with the Khazak eagle hunters.Wow! The whole experience was amazing. Because it was winter, there was no camping, lots of gers and home stays, and provincial hotels. We spent a lot of time with Mongolian families, learnt of their traditions, played card games and they taught us many variations of 'jacks'. All the time Jess, Turuu, and the Eternal Landscapes team were helpfully explaining the customs, and introducing us to a way of life rarely seen by tourists. Our guides, Odnoo and Khishgee, were both excellent, knowledgeable, thoughtful and genuinely interested in making sure we were comfortable and connected to the places and people we visited. The family stays, food and accommodation all exceeded our expectations, and the absolute highlight was a private traditional concert inside our ger, just for the two of us. I wanted a tour that incorporated Nadaam as well as the Gobi desert for myself and my husband. Jess was very prompt to reply and gave us a personal touch in putting together a plan that suited us. I have never received such a high level of personal service when dealing with a travel company.Once in Mongolia everyone that we met from the company were fantastic.Our guide Amaraa couldn't do enough for us and her cooking skills were great - we even had pizza in the Gobi dessert! READ IT! Highly highly recommend 2 things- earplugs and a good inflatable mattress for back support. Leah RFantastic family trip We just completed our best family holiday. Eternal landscape gave us a tailored trip with 5 days horse-riding and 8 days traveling around various parts of Mongolia, and then 3 days in ulanbattar for naadam. Nothing was ever a hassle. They were flexible and changed the tour as needed. Ie we were to go horse riding with pack horses, however I was not up to 5 full days of riding having only ridden 2 times before. They instead had our van follow and I could stop and start when needed, whilst the rest of the family rode. Our guide cooked the best food, coping with our keto diet. Loved the country side, the piece and quiet. No technology. The van was very comfortable. One row sat all 4 of us. I was lucky I did an excellent choice and that s why I would like to share my experience.I took part in a private tour organised by Eternal Landscapes (‘EL’) from 19 June 2012 to 7 July 2012. The tour was designed from the Untamed Mongolia trip offered on EL’s website plus some adds on to fit my requests. We covered the following: Gobi area with Tsagaan Suvraga, Yolym Am, Bayanzag and Khongorym Els, Central Mongolia with Arvaikheer, Karkhorin, Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur and Northen Mongolia with Murun, Khovsgol, Selenge, Bulgan, Amarbayasgaland, Khustain.I have been extremely pleased by the services offered by Eternal Landscapes…. Here is why….:- Proactivity and professionalism in organizing the trip: I had multiple contacts with Jessica, owner of Eternal Landscapes. There is no doubt about how prompt all her answers were. As well; she gave a lot of information to ensure my expectations were set up adequately. She gave a lot of advice on building the actual trip. I must say she was very patient with all the changes I kept requesting.- We were welcomed at the airport and looked after from that point. At the end we were dropped off at the airport. All the logistics was taken care of by EL which gave me a true peace of mind- EL provided us with a booklet with a lot of information on our arrival. This included details information on UB and Mongolia, covering Buddhism, ger, detail of the program, traditions….. this was full of useful information. As well; we were given a map of Mongolia where our trip has been marked with overnight stop, which was very useful for us in order to give us an idea of where we are given the country is very large.- We had Jessica as a guide for roughly the first half and Selenge for the second half. I would recommend EL for the quality of the guides. They truly know Mongolia, they can tell you about traditions; cultures, history, flora, fauna…. This was great. Jessica is English so obviously there is no communication issue for us. The second guide was Mongolian and her English was truly excellent. I have met other guides during the trip and their English was not as good.- We had one driver for the first half and another one for the second half. Again, they were amazing drivers. The road, well the tracks, there is not many roads (in Australia we talk about dirty roads but for Mongolia I would rather say dirty tracks), were very bumpy and I could see they were highly experienced in their driving skills. Moreover you often read in guide book or forum issues around drivers drinking too much at night, which caused some worries for me given the distance travelled. No issue was noted at all with EL. Our two drivers led by example during the whole trip, which was really reassuring in terms of road safety.- Open mindedness of the guides: they made us feel very comfortable at each moment to express our wish. I wanted to run at Great White Lake. Jessica organized this for me. Should you wish to spend time on your own exploring a monastery, you can. Should you want the guide to come with you in the walk, this will happen. Jess and Selenge continuously made sure we were pleased with the program and the activity.- The guides were doing as much as they can to make us truly experience Mongolia. This is probably one of the best parts. I went to Mongolia to “look around” and discover the landscapes but as well people and food. Here are some examples of the experiences:o A sunset horse ride at Kohvgol with the Mongolian kid of the Family followed by yak milkingo Playing the bones; typical Mongolian games with a few version, really enjoyable moment to play games when you cannot communicate and have no idea of the ruleso A sunrise camel ride at Khongorym Elso Sipping vodka during a hail storm at Khongorym Els (at roughly 11am)o Climbing the dunes of Khongorym Els with the two kids of the family we were staying ato Preparing Mongolian tea and buuz (steamed dumplings)o Trying out a lot of unpasteurized dairy products without getting sick once: yak milk; yak cheese, yak cream; yak yoghurt, camel yoghurt, camel milk, dried curdo Going for a 12km run around White Lake….the actual distance remains a mystery but according to the whole team it should be somewhere between 9km and 12kmo Counting on one hand the number of proper showers…. A pure celebration of baby wipes showers…. But what a wonderful moment to discover the public hot showers, as good as at homeo The Mongolian Hospitality… to feel always welcome in their gers at anytime o The wonderful landscapes, from desert to grasslands, lakes, monasteries….- About the food….. the guides made sure we tried Mongolian typical food. When not eating purely Mongolian, the food was totally appropriate/ lunch was tuna or salami or eggs plus salads (carrot, cucumber, corn, mushroom, tomatoes), generally cold lunch. Bread is available. Dinner is always a warm dish, some meat with potato or pasta. We had a lot of apples and some bananas. For whoever decided to go travelling in Mongolia they need to remember Mongolia does not produce fruits (just watermelon) so all fruits are imported so travelers should set up their expectations based on that. Same with veggies. We had biscuits. The guides always made sure we had plenty to eat and were very open if we wanted to snack or not anything that was available. craj11_11Small personalised perfect tours for travellers I found Jess on Tripadvisor Forum and I am so grateful to travellers who post there, as the recommendations were found to be spot on. I was looking for a small private tour rather than joining a large group organised by large international tourist companies, and especially I did not want to share a ger or tent with 5 strangers. Having found Jess I set about inviting friends to join me. I had a ger to myself and the other three couples had a ger each. Jess was organised and sufficiently prompt in responding to queries for me to have complete faith in her suggestions. And the tour was very good value. The trip assistants, who were also our wonderful cooks learned on our first trip to the supermarket (also fascinating) that everyone wanted healthy food, and so rather than the predicted daily boiled mutton we had lots of salads, vegetable and noodle soup (with some mutton), pesto pasta as well as traditional Mongolian foods. Whilst in the early days we offered to help chopping vegetables, the assistants were so amazingly efficient that we found we were more likely to get in their way. And we also had restaurant meals when we were in a town or city. Every day of the tour provided new surprises; one of the benefits of a private tour is that the keen photographers on our tour could ask the driver to stop the vehicles to capture the special moments. Our two drivers were great and also very handy, able to fix any car issue as well as stopping to help other stranded tour groups!Eternal Landscapes also has a social responsibility approach to travel which was admirable. The big highlight was of course Naadam, which provided extraordinary photographic opportunities.Other hightlights: - We had a wonderful unmissable and unforgettable night with a goat herder nomad family – a priceless experience that was completely Mongolian. (The seven of us shared one of the family’s gers on this occasion).- We covered a large variety of landscapes and Jess incorporated walks into the tour on many days so that we could be IN the landscape. - And we were able to interact with Mongolian people who came to visit us at our lunch stops, teach us archery and about archery competition, play musical instruments/ throat sing, in the arena at Naadam as well as to our times shopping for our meals.I have no hesitation in recommending Eternal Landscapes. Rashmi SAmazing trip with a very professional company When my partner and I decided to visit Mongolia and not bother with hiring a car and GPS the hunt for a travel agent/agency who could provide an itinerary and sort out the details for us began. After some research we found Eternal Landscapes and that was what made Mongolia so amazing! The company is run by Jess (Boss 1) and her Mongolian partner Turuu (Boss 2). Jess is amazingly approachable and she was able to quickly help us pull together an itinerary that would suit us. The best thing about communicating with her is that she was very flexible, full of ideas, very knowledgable and yet very laid back at the same time. She not only came across as forthright but also very professional. Once we had the trip sorted (with Jess handholding and answering questions that ranged from major queries to niggling doubts) we were on our way. And things went belly up as our flights were a real mess - end result: Jess sorted us out! With great calm she told us to just get ourselves to Mongolia and the rest would be sorted -and it was! Once there we were lucky enough to have Turuu with us for the 26 day long trip (we did a circuit - so south from Ulaanbataar to the Gobi, then north into the steppes and to Khovsgol Lake which borders Siberia - and then the drive back east to Ulaanbataar). Mongolia is not a luxury destination - and if it is, I don't want to know why or how. The best part about travelling with EL is that we saw a bit of the 'real Mongolia' - how real people live and work and survive in this beautiful but harsh country. In most cases we camped or stayed in family ger accommodation - totally bypassing the more 'luxurious' tourist ger camps - which meant more basic facilities but also less crowds (which during Nadaam is a miracle) and a better insight into the everyday life of everyday Mongolians. Our trip advisor was brilliant - most certainly the best camp cook we've ever had the privilege of travelling with! Our campsites absolutely beautiful and tranquil! Overall, everyone from Jess and Turuu to other members of EL were courteous, professional and accommodating. At the end of this magnificent journey Jess and Turuu also helped us find a real traditional Mongolian bow to bring home! In the end, I don't have enough words to thank or recommend EL - we are already planning another trip to Mongolia and when we do we will not look beyond EL! NadjaWinter trip We had the most amazing time with Eternal Landscapes. We booked with them because of their ethical and empowering way of working and giving back to the community. If you want to be more than a tourist, we highly recommend them. Jess, the owner was extremely patient and helpful in customising our trip. And even though we never met her, her philosophy and absolutely love and knowledge for the country and it’s quirks shines through the whole experience. With such vast landscapes and different way of life, winter is a fantastic way of seeing, appreciating and experiencing the country. And as photographers it was mind blowing. Our tour assistant and driver were both lovely, incredibly accommodating, with a great sense of humour. A winter in a Mongolia sounds like it’s is not for everyone, but it should be. Even though it was freezing, we were warm in our wonderfully kitted out Russian van.The people we met were all really kind and appreciative of winter tourism. Sabine CMy kids' new standard for a perfect holiday When I was planning our trip to Mongolia, I was looking for a small organization with a focus on sustainable tourism. I also wanted an organization flexible enough to put together an itinerary and activities that are interesting and fun for both adults and my two kids (5 and 7). I was hoping to learn about Mongolian culture and way of life while exploring the varied landscape. My kids had plenty of travel experience but none involving sleeping in gers and tents and going without bath for some days, so I was hoping the trip would go over well but didn't dare to be sure. Thanks to Jess, Tuya (our guide), and Nyma (our driver) from Eternal Landscapes we ended up with an amazing experience. We travelled around the country in our "living room on wheels" (an adapted Russian van; very comfortable!) for 2.5 weeks, stayed with families in gers, slept in tents amid amazing landscapes, went hiking, climbed rocks, rode horses and camels, played with frogs in little creeks and caught squirrels with hordes of excited kids, made cheese, tried wodka from mare's milk, ate Mongolian dumplings and pancakes (yum!), planted trees against desertification, watched herders catch colts for the first time, had Mongolian barbecue (the real deal!), and at all times enjoyed the beauty of the country - from green hills to the sands of the Gobi - and the hospitality of the wonderful people of Mongolia. This holiday was truly an exceptional experience and we are so very grateful for everything Eternal Landscapes did to make it happen. Virginia WA truly amazing trip We really enjoyed our 14 day trip to western Mongolia with Eternal Landscapes in Aug/Sept 2018.The trip offered us a real insight in to the fascinating lives of the Kazakh nomads of the Bayan Ulgii Province. An existence that seems so at odds with the 21st century. We stayed in the gers of several local families during the period when they were moving from their summer pastures to their winter ones. Traditional standards of Kazakh hospitality were extended to us wherever we went.Our EL team really looked after us, attentive without being intrusive, but always making sure we were comfortable in conditions that were outside of our normal day-to-day comfort zone. We had great confidence in the driver and vehicle. Our trip assistant/cook and local interpreter were first class. They along with the driver worked together to form an amazing team. We could not have wished for better as they really enhanced our enjoyment of the trip.Jess Brooks customized our itinerary to suit our interests and expectations. Jess, the owner, was incredibly thorough and patient while we worked out what we wanted to do, and came up with an excellent tailor-made itinerary for us. We also love the company's social enterprise approach to supporting local people and local businesses. All up, we had what felt like a truly authentic experience and a very special two weeks touring this spectacular country. Our driver and guide added to the experience: both were very professional and allowed us insights into the country that we had not expected. Cycling Eternal landscapes provided the tour guides and vehicles for an Australian cycling company. It was a disappointment from the first night. The restaurant we went to for our welcome dinner was not booked so we had to walk to another..minor inconvenience but incidents like this kept occurring. The leaders English was not good enough to explain change of plans. The experience was like watching a movie with the sound turned off. When asked how old the temple was the comment was "built before I was born" I expected that the leaders would have had an interest in or knowledge off.. history, culture and nature. We stopped for a long lunch every day..rice, meat and vegetables. When asked for a lighter shorter lunch.. we got soup. The food was good usually. We were well briefed prior to the trip and well taken care of for the duration of our stay. Wow, what a trip!Let's be honest. It's Mongolia, first and foremost, that is the star. Wonderful scenery, fascinating history, a living, breathing culture and big skies. Astounding. Go. You'll love it. And it's uncrowded. But who to go with? Well, in most instances, my wife and I prefer to organise our own itinerary. But Mongolia is big, largely devoid of road signs in its vast landscapes and we felt local knowledge would add greatly to our travel experience. An organised trip seemed to be the best option. We initially chose Eternal Landscapes for their sustainable credentials. We got so much more. Their group size is maximum of 6 (4 guests on our tour), so we never overwhelmed anywhere we stopped. Jess and Turuu, the owners of EL, have searched for the less visited, and rarely visited locations (as well as the big highlights). The mix of private Ger accommodation, camping and regional hotel stays was good. When we camped (my favourite) we were always by ourselves and always in a stunning location. And there were no tourist Ger camps for us, just family run and authentic. Our guides and drivers were knowledgable, enthusiastic and great fun. We visited places other tour groups didn't go, we walked to amazing vistas and historic monasteries. But it was never hurried and there was always time. After spending the last 15 years dreaming of visiting Mongolia, having studied it's rich history at Uni, I finally fulfilled my dream with my dear friend Anna in September 2018. It's taken a while to get round to writing this review mainly due to life taking over and the fact it has taken this long to fully digest the majesty of this wonderful Country. The two weeks we spent with EL were a bit of a whirlwind, but were two of the best weeks of my life: we saw and experienced some of the most wonderful,mind changing things, too many to list right now, but here are some of the highlights....We biked through the Gobi desert, milked Yaks and Goats, drunk copious amounts of fermented milk and vodka, eaten enough meat to last a year, shared Gers with the most warm and welcoming families, spent three days trekking through the most stunning countryside, camped under the stars, taken part in a yearly horse branding ceremony which involved lots of drinking, eating and singing, spent two days horse riding through the Orkhon River Valley, visited Kharkorin (the capital of the Mongolian Empire), driven for hours in our trusty Russian 4x4 and introduced Dobble to the Mongolians! The highlight of the two weeks however was meeting Tumee and Nymka, our guide and driver. I cannot thank Eternal Landscapes (Jess Brooks) enough for blessing us with two of the most knowledgeable, friendly, funny and caring people. Right from the outset, communication was great. Jess got in touch with us to find out about our interests and planned a private tour that suited us perfectly. Once on the trip, all the arrangements ran smoothly right from the pick up at the airport. We had the most amazing time, staying with nomadic families in their gers, hiking across the beautiful landscapes and a frozen lake, seeing wild horses in the national parks. We wanted to learn to cook Mongolian food and it was a real treat to learn with the families we stayed with. We had a wonderful guide and driver throughout the trip - both are Mongolian and our guide spoke excellent English. SamanthaThe tour I participated in was in winter (Feb 2026), and exactly what I was after. It was unique, beautiful and raw, in country that felt untouched and unburdened by the "fast pace" normally experienced in everyday life. The tour staff were knowledgeable, thoughtful and caring (every day asking if we were satisfied and okay) and hard-working. I originally chose Eternal Landscapes as they discussed ethical and moral values that aligned with how I wanted to travel, and those were proven in the way the tour was managed and who we visited etc. I appreciated my money was going towards real, traditional Mongolian families and benefitting their livelihoods. I don't think Mongolia comes to mind for a lot of people as a travel destination, but it should! Visiting in winter, especially visiting the Tsaatan reindeer-herders, was like being in a Disney movie. One of the most special experiences I've ever had. I couldn't recommend Eternal Landscape enough; they offer all kinds of amazing and genuine experiences and are very flexible/catering. IvanaPartyWell organised and interactive small group tour to Western Mongolia I joined the Eternal Landscape small group tour Altai and Eagles in September 2018, and it was an amazing experience. The highlight of the tour was the Eagle festival where we had the opportunity to see Eagle hunters we had met and stayed with en route show off their skills, as well as to observe some other local sports (wrestling, archery, wife catching races....).The trip offered the unique experience of traveling through Mongolia in the famous Furgon - each furgon is different and personalised but all are extremely safe and far more reliable than the western 4x4s of which we encountered a number stuck in rivers and on rough dirt roads. The accommodation was mixed - sometimes we stayed in separate visitor gers, other times on the floor of the family ger with the family. However the experience was always wonderful - the families were busy but welcoming, and we had up close encounters with the eagles and hunters we later saw in action at the festival.The EL employees were also very good - diligent in working with the tourists to experience the best of Mongolia, and always respectful and pleasant to the host families.Food was mixed - generally meat heavy so if you’re a vegetarian bring some supplements - but meal times were social and enjoyable. The team even produced a birthday cake one day for one of the group! And there were always tea and biscuits with the host families.This isn’t a luxury holiday so if long drops and sleeping bags on the ground aren’t your thing, this holiday isn’t for you. We booked a 9-day tour with Eternal Landscapes to the Khentii province, probably the most remote and challenging part of Mongolia. I was researching for a novel I'm currently writing, and my family and a friend also wanted to tag along for the adventure. And what an adventure it was! We traveled over 1,300 kms in 2 Russian Furgon vans, following the footsteps of Chinggis Khan and paying homage to the Mongol homelands. Our trip finished with the amazing Naadam Festival back in Ulanbaatar. I feel somewhat forever changed on a fundamental level by the experience. We have fallen in love with Mongolia and its wonderful people, who are so resilient, resourceful, friendly and forever helpful. Booking the trip was a lengthy process as our itinerary had to be custom-designed and the owner, Jess, was immensely patient, informative, and extremely helpful. After looking around at a few different tour companies, we decided with Eternal Landscapes because of this and also because of the philosophy that the company operates with. They are very environmentally conscious, taking measures to minimise waste during our travels. They do everything they can to try to give back to the country and the community, giving work to small local businesses and employing women as trip assistants. In a country where it is difficult for women to find work as guides, Eternal Landscapes provides training and support to those that want the opportunity to work in tourism. Our trip assistants, Mishka and Zaya, were not "professional" guides but they were very helpful, and any requests we had were dealt with seriously and enthusiastically. Any questions that they didn't have the answer to, they sought the answer for us immediately. Our drivers, Ganbaa and Sodoo, were amazing guys too, hard-working men who were friendly and greeted us everyday with a bright smile and humour, no matter how long they'd driven the day before. I have actually traveled with Jess a couple times in Mongolia. She loves the country and people there and it shows. Zoe CAmazing experience I DEEPLY recommend Eternal Landscape to all people willing to explore Mongolia. They accompanied me and other four friends in a 6 days tour in the Gobi desert in August 2017. The thing I appreciated the most was to feel treated as a valuable PERSON, not as a mere source of money, as it happened very often in the tourist sector. I've always felt Eternal Landscape staff’s first objective was to let us get to know and appreciate beautiful Mongolia and have very good vibes about it. I could really feel their love and passion for this country since the very beginning. That impression was proved by little gestures during our stay in Mongolia, such as a free tour in Ulaanbaatar after the tour and some nice souvenirs we received from them. I was impressed by how the director of the agency, Jessica Brook, was responsive to all our requests and needs during the organisational phase before our departure. We had very specific requests about the itinerary and a quite complicated logistics, since part of our group came from China and the other from Ulaanbaatar. All the other agencies we contacted told us they were not able to deal with it, while Eternal Landscapes was and managed to organise a tailor made tour. Before our departure we were able to communicate with Jessica almost on a daily basis to organise the tour in details and ask all the questions we had in mind about operative details and Mongolia more in general. She even helped us booking our train tickets from China to Mongolia and from Mongolia to Russia (two of us went to the Baikal lake after Mongolia). During the tour everything went just perfect. Since everything had been arranged in details, we complied with the planning. Our guides were experienced, so we always felt safe. And this is very important in the desolate lands of Mongolia! They were also friendly, responsive to our requests and sensitive about our needs (including food requirements). To sum up I could not recommend Eternal Landscape enough. I have no words to express how my experience was ! I booked a trip in Mongolie with another agency having very known website. But two days before my trip in Mongolia, my contact informed me that he was unable to book domestic flight and that the journey had to be changed. I checked and contacted the domestic airlines companies, there were flights but my travel agent did not book on time. Flights were fully booked. I did not want to travel 3 days and be more than 1000 km in a Toyota Prius with all my luggages, bmmy husband (191cm tall) and my daughter (4y). So I contacted Eternal Landscape, I was desesparated. I just asked some questions and did not ask anything as organizing a trip 48h in advance is impossible. But impossible is not Eternal Landscape! They did not promesse me anything but the day after Jessica contacted me with a program. She took the time to contact her team and organize something for me, without putting pressure on me. Just in case, to help me. I was solo happy ! I lost some money but preferred not to go with the initial travel agent but to go with Eternal Landscape. And this was one of the best choice I did. Sue EllenA Mongolian Winter Adventure I can't begin to tell how much I enjoyed this trip. I worry that I will run out of superlative adjectives. The personal assistance given before, during and after the trip was incredible. It was way beyond what we could possibly have hoped for. The trip itself was so unique. Besides the glimpses of history and tradition, we were able to participate in adventures that we never imagined: winter nights in gers, riding in hand-made horse-drawn sleds across a frozen lake, and watching friendly competitions at a festival on the ice in archery, wrestling, tug-of war and more. The staff (Turuu, Amaraa, et al) was superb. The Mongolian people we met on the trip were unfailingly generous and kind, sharing their homes and culture with us. tommiejA Unique Experience I’m still on a high two weeks after returning home from a 23 day tour in June with Eternal Landscapes. Our skilfully planned itinerary took us from Ulaanbaatar to the southern Gobi, then westwards and north through beautiful National Parks to Khuvsgul Lake. Desert, sand dunes, vast gold and green landscapes, rivers, valleys, mountains, forests, camel and horse riding, hiking, a mini local Naadam, the Takhi wild horses. Our interactions with the local people with whom we stayed (in very comfortable gers) were warm, fun and such a worthwhile learning experience. And our camping spots were so special in most beautiful locations with not a soul around. Nothing was too much trouble for our lovely guide, Baaska, and our so considerate driver, Neema, who really made our trip such a wonderful, memorable and unique experience.Posted on Tripadvisor

I discovered Eternal Landscapes and decided to join their Untamed Mongolia with Naadam. It was a brilliant decision. This was an adventure into the heart of Mongolian landscapes and it's people that surprised and challenged me. Nothing can really prepare you for the ultimate road and off road trip covering the three geographic regions in Mongolia. Your journey in the simple but mighty Furgon van is not a glamorous or first class comfort one but I cannot imagine doing the trip any other way. You will have time to marvel at the scenery, the wildlife, and get to know some of the great and resilient people of the country. You will also have a great travel company behind you, supporting you right from the time you arrive in Ulaan Bataar to the hour you leave. On the trip I joined we had a wonderful driver and hard working trip assistant that never wavered from their task to give us a wonderful experience. Our guide's English was not amazing but that didn't detract from the trip as she was so friendly and taught us a lot. Our driver was wonderful and we felt very safe in their hands. Jess, who runs the company, was very friendly and helpful and even came to meet us before the trip. The accommodation was basic but comfortable and the whole trip was good value for money, especially when compared with many other companies. Looking for a tour company reflective of my ideals, Jess responded quickly and honestly to all my queries. I'm a solo traveller, 72 years old and reasonably fit, beach holidays are not my thing - I prefer some kind of mind-expanding trip. This was one and more!If you're thinking of an unusual country with people with unusual attitudes, real hard lives and broad smiles have a word with Jess! The 15-day trip was hard - I haven't camped for many years - but exhilarating and exhausting. The staff were excellent and accommodating for the whole journey and made the experience something I want to repeat, but this time without the camping! First Jess, who took the time to tailor the tour to our timeline and interests, and would send us text messages along the tour to see how we were doing,our guides (proud of their culture which they shared with us, as well as singing and stories =>we were impressed with the training that Jess has done of her great guides!!!), our driver Turuu (our rock who somehow knew when to make a hard left in the vastness of the Mongolia landscape), our family hosts. Some of the families that Eternal Landscapes had selected for us were families that they know well, that treated us like part of their family: a special mention to their friends Byamba and Radnaa and their family of the Gobi Oasis Tree Planting Project in Mandalgobi who made us feel so welcome in their home and we enjoyed making dumplings with them and playing ankle bones. Redefining the middle of nowhere! Vast expanses of green fields as far as the eye can see. Nomads, horses, Gers, Mutton, curd, eagles. Just Like being inside a travel guide. W e stayed with 2 families in their gers in 2 National Parks {Terelj and Khustain) as well as the usual sights outside Ulaan Baatur. We lovd the customized itinerary, our female guide Tuya and our driver. We plan to go again in 2019 for the Eagle Festival in September. ArkWikWonderful experience with the Mongolian people Our experience with the Eternal Landscapes team could not have been better. We topped and tailed our main trip to the Tsaatan people with a weekend in the Khustain Nuruu National Park and an archery course in Ulaanbaatar. From the time we were welcomed at the airport to the morning we were leaving, we were “minded” by such lovely people. Our guides Zaya, Tuya and especially Unuruu looked after us so well with transfers on road, off road, on rail and on horseback, all superbly organised. Accommodation throughout the trip varied from guest houses, gers, orts, regular tents and local hotels. None of it anywhere near 5 star rating, which is exactly what this trip was all about. It gave us a true incite to daily life in different settings. Some highlights were: Shopping in local stores for provisions, riding the Trans-Mongolian train, wild camping, enjoying milk tea and bread with the Tsaatan people. We were delighted to have been there to help the families move their whole village to their Spring camping grounds. Special mention to our main driver Ganbaa who kept us safe despite having only muddy tracks to drive across for days on end, and Narankhuu and Erdenee our horsemen who led us safely through forests, bogs and plains. To enjoy this trip you do need to be fairly fit, healthy and prepared to rough it. Sleeping on the ground in nearly freezing conditions was what we experienced in June. The only food we had was what we brought with us on horseback but somehow Unuruu managed to make each meal different, wholesome and tasty while using the same ingredients. Tips for anyone thinking of doing this trip: be prepared to wear the same clothes, day and night while in the taiga, pack as light as possible having regard to huge variations in weather, bring some snacks for sharing, thoroughly read the literature Eternal Landscapes send you .Posted on Tripadvisordebsi0108Absolutely best trip ever That was one of my best trips ever.
